It’s about more than just boxing.
Today, Sweet Science Foundation was fortunate to host Phil White, CEO of Domestic Repairs LTD and a proud supporter of the Foundation, who spoke with one of our most vulnerable and at-risk students. This particular 17-year-old student has been involved in county lines and a range of illegal and dangerous activities, but today, something shifted.
From the moment they began talking, Phil immediately put the young man at ease and the conversation flowed naturally, with warmth and understanding. Phil was open about his own mistakes as a teenager, drawing parallels between his experiences and the challenges the young man currently faces. The similarities between them struck a deep chord, opening the young person’s eyes to the possibilities ahead. Through this honest and heartfelt exchange, Phil helped him see that a future filled with direction, dedication, and hard work is not only possible but within reach.
It was truly uplifting to witness this 17-year-old begin to shift his perspective, almost as if we saw him grow before our eyes. Moments like these remind us that it’s about creating connections, offering guidance and giving young people the opportunity to transform their lives.
